Our mission

Inverter HQ exists to demystify solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and the inverters that sit at their heart. We help homeowners, prosumers, and hands-on DIYers understand, size, run, and troubleshoot their own solar setups — without the sales pressure, the acronym soup, or the recycled advice you find on every other site. Everything we publish is written to be genuinely useful first, and everything else second.

Our story

Inverter HQ started out of frustration. When we went looking for straight answers about string versus microinverters, why a battery was cycling the way it was, or what a sudden drop in yield actually meant, we mostly found shallow, copy-pasted articles that never solved the real problem. Installers are brilliant, but they are busy — most do not have time to walk you through why your system behaves the way it does after the crew has packed up and left.

So we built the resource we wished existed: clear, tested, people-first guidance grounded in real field experience. What began as a small collection of commissioning notes and monitoring screenshots has grown into an organized library covering inverters, panels, batteries, complete systems, monitoring, and maintenance.

What we cover

We organize everything into six focused areas so you can go deep on exactly what you need:

  • Inverters — string, micro, and hybrid inverters: how they work, how to size them to your array, how to read their fault codes, and how to keep them running efficiently.
  • Panels — PV module types, orientation and tilt, shading losses, degradation, and how to tell whether a panel is actually underperforming.
  • Batteries — lithium and lead-acid storage, depth of discharge, round-trip efficiency, and integrating storage with a grid-tied or hybrid inverter.
  • Systems — putting it all together: grid-tie, off-grid, and hybrid architectures, wiring topologies, and practical sizing for real households.
  • Monitoring — making sense of production data, spotting a failing string, and setting up alerts so problems surface before they cost you kilowatt-hours.
  • Maintenance — cleaning, inspection intervals, connector checks, and the seasonal habits that keep a system healthy for its full 20-to-25-year life.

Who’s behind Inverter HQ

This site is written and edited by Arjun Mehta. Arjun has spent the last decade around residential and small-commercial solar — sizing arrays, commissioning inverters, integrating batteries, and hunting down the odd underperforming string on a hot afternoon. That hands-on background shapes everything here: array sizing, inverter commissioning, battery integration, and performance monitoring are not abstract topics to us, they are the day job. (“Arjun Mehta” is a pen name we use as a consistent byline for the site’s editorial voice.)
